DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION

Dr. Stacie Smith has served as an educator and educational leader for more than 30 years. These experiences allowed her to gain wisdom, knowledge, and expertise in administration, educational coaching, management of programs, curriculum development, partnerships, and instruction. Dr. Smith is known for teaching and leading through a culturally relevant lens while maintaining a social justice platform. She is an excellent resource and is frequently sought out as a mentor, to conduct meetings, serve on committees/boards, and for advice regarding leadership, instruction, or planning, within the state and nationally. The height of her national educational service came while operating as an advisor to the former Secretary of Education.

Dr. Smith is credited with the development of curriculums for community programs, districts, state agendas, and national companies. It has been her lifelong passion to teach utilizing new and innovative techniques to increase achievement and academic ownership. She received the prestigious Milken National Educator Award for excellence in education and leadership. Dr. Smith was also recognized by the Michigan Science Teacher Association and featured in Jet Magazine. She continually strives toward excellence and is certified as a national trainer, while serving as an educational coach, curriculum leader, educational consultant, instructional specialist, assistant principal, principal, and university professor. She possesses an innate creativity that is centered on the unique needs of the community and learners.

Dr. Smith received her B.A. degree from Eastern Michigan University, a M.A. degree from the University of Phoenix, and a Doctor of Education degree from Walden University.
