Louise Erskine

CHIEF OF STAFF & CLIMATE LEAD

Louise Erskine is the Chief of Staff and Climate Lead at the Africa-America Institute. Before her work at AAI, she was Chief of Staff and the Gender & Climate Lead at The International Center for Research on Women – the world’s premiere gender equity research institute with offices in Kenya, Uganda, India, and the United States. Louise served as a strategic advisor to ICRW’s President leading special projects and initiatives. She also led the development of ICRW’s new gender and climate portfolio focused on developing a data-driven case for investing climate funds into women-led climate action. 

For a decade, Louise has worked in public policy, agriculture, research, and advocacy. Before moving to the USA, Louise managed policy, operations, and communications, for various elected officials across Canada including as Advisor to Alberta’s Minister of Agriculture and Forestry and as a strategist in the 2019 Alberta Election War Room. 

Louise has lectured and written on climate action, centering women in sustainable development, political action and campaigning. She holds a master’s in international agriculture and rural development from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Science in sustainable agriculture from the University of Alberta.
