Michael Johnston was born on the 17th of June 1998 in Derby in the United Kingdom. After completing his schooling first in Glastonbury, Connecticut, and then in Derby, he went on to complete a Bachelor of arts degree in International Relations and Politics from the University of Lincoln. Upon Completion of this he was first hired by the Africa- America Institute as an intern in February 2020. In 2021, he completed a Master of arts in Geopolitics from Newcastle University. Upon earning his MA, he was hired by AAI full time where he remains to this day, having assisted the institute in various research, development, and communications roles, including in three annual awards galas and the reintroduction of AAI’s school services program.
